"The Hina Dolls of the Lord of the Castle: Exquisite Gold Craft and Luxurious Kimonos" - Yatsugi City, Kumamoto Prefecture

At Matsuhama-ken in Yatsugatake City, a doll display passed down from the Matsui family, who were the lords of Yatsugatake Castle, is on display.
The "hina decorations" displayed at Matsuhama-ken were made by the Matsui family, who were the lords of Hachidaigai Castle during the Edo period, to celebrate weddings and the birth of girls, and records remain of their purchase from Kyoto.
In addition to the intricate gold craftsmanship on the crown, the luxurious and elaborate embroidery on the kimono was also created by the doll makers of that time, and it was highly favored among the noble families and the inner palace.
In addition to the hina dolls, the hina decorations featuring miniature cosmetics, furniture, and other items allow you to see the meticulousness and craftsmanship of Edo-period artisans.
This "Matsui Family Hina Matsuri" is being held at Matsuhama-ya in Yatsugatake until the end of March.
